Mental Health

In Ireland presently, 1 in 6 people suffer from Depression annually and 1 in 4 of us will have a mental health issue in our lifetime.

In 2018 alone, 40% of GP consultations in the UK were mental health related and here in Ireland it was 20%, although these figures may in reality be higher. There has also been a 64% increase in psychiatric meds in Ireland between 2009 -17 and in the UK psychiatric prescription medication is doubling every 10 years.

In the EU, 1 in every 15 people suffers depression and 4 in every 15 suffer anxiety, while globally 35 to 50% of people with mental health issues do not seek help.

These figures are very challenging and made more difficult when we consider that more than three-quarters (78%) of corporate employees believe that mental health issues are of increasing concern, based on their own experience and that of colleagues but over 75% of employees are uncomfortable with discussing mental health.
